Sumela Monastery (Turkish: Sümela Manastırı) The monastery was established in 386 AD and is located at an altitude of 1200 meters within a slope of the village of Macka, which is 50 km from the city of Trabzon. It is a site of great historical and cultural importance, as well as a major tourist attraction.
