Travelers who love shopping should not miss the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest indoor markets in the world with 5,000 shops. The bazaar receives more than a quarter of a million visitors a day and offers items such as jewellery, flying and non-flying rugs, spices, antiques, and hand-painted ceramics.

Dating back to 1461, this bazaar now houses two mosques, four fountains, two hammams or steam baths, and the Cevahir Bedesten, where the rarest and most valuable objects are traditionally found. Here, shoppers will find ancient coins, gem-set jewelry, inlaid weapons and antique furniture.
